The KeenCon Contenders was created as an official KeenCon tournament with the goal of finding new members for the official KeenCon team.

In its first edition in 2021, the tournament had 30 participants divided into two leagues per region, one for the Latin American community and one for the European community. The prize was to be part of the official KeenCon team alongside the professional and experienced Quake players S0MBR4 and SL1P.

The winners of this first edition were Yup, from the Latin American League, and cydkeix, from the European League.

The second edition was held in September 2022 and the winner and new member of the KeenCon team was Eirian.
